As a holistic dog groomer, my process is a little different to traditional grooming salons. I'm passionate about making the grooming experience as positive and low-stress as possible, and tailored to your dog’s individual needs.

How Mucky Mutts Macclesfield works

Before any grooming takes place, I require a mandatory 'Meet and Treat' session. During this appointment, I will gently assess your dog to understand what they can and cannot comfortably cope with, discuss what holistic grooming truly involves, and create a personalised grooming plan tailored specifically to their individual needs. Every dog is unique, and their grooming experience should adapt to them, not the other way around.

All grooming decisions are made following the 'Meet and Treat', based on your dog’s tolerance levels, coat condition, overall health, and emotional comfort. Holistic grooming is a working partnership where we ensure your dog’s comfort, coat health, and emotional wellbeing. Together, we will create a plan that supports your dog both in the salon and at home, where I can support you with advice and training on ongoing home care between appointments.

While I am always happy to take your preferences and styling wishes into account, your dog’s wellbeing will always be the priority. I will only carry out specific styles or requests if they can be achieved without causing your dog stress or anxiety.

I accept dogs for grooming once our Customer Declaration Form has been completed and signed.
Please note - as a small business owner I have a late cancellation fee of £15 to cover missed appointments, unless in case of an emergency. Please see the terms and conditions for details.

Meet and treat

This is a mandatory first session, it's a way for us to get to know each other and for you to find out more about holistic grooming and my methods.

This session allows your dog to become familiar with the salon and with me, I also use this session to assess your dog's comfort level with being handled as well as their reaction to tools like the dryer, clippers and scissors.

Half dog groom

These grooms are the essentials only and can be done over several sessions to avoid overwhelming your dog and keeping them comfortable with grooming.

Some dogs struggle with grooming and using several smaller sessions I can adjust the grooming process to fit their needs, helping to show your dog that grooming can be a positive experience.

Full dog groom

A full groom includes a health check, bath and dry, nail cutting, clipping or scissoring.

Some dogs are comfortable enough with grooming to be okay with a full groom, however I still assess all dogs indivdually and tailor the groom to their needs.

Hand-stripping groom

A full hand-stripping groom includes a health check, bath and dry and nail cutting, then I do a full hand-strip on your dog.

Hand-stripping can also be done as a half groom, for terriers that need that extra support.

Puppy package

Puppies need to be introduced to the grooming experience gradually and from an early age.

Puppies need to get used to meeting a new person and being in a new environment, then they need to get used to the feel and sounds of the bath, dryer and clippers. I want puppies to enjoy their time at Mucky Mutts.
